From 19 to 22 May 2026, Europe Direct Lom hosted an inspiring international exchange of the ROMA RISE project, bringing together five youth teams and their coordinators from Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Greece, and Hungary.
The event was officially opened by the Deputy Mayors of Lom Municipality, Mrs. Vladimirova and Mrs. Krumova, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of international cooperation and youth engagement. Additional welcoming remarks were delivered by Angelo Ivanov, Director of the Directorate of Humanitarian Activities and International Cooperation.
The program was jointly developed by the Roma-Lom Foundation and the C.E.G.A. Foundation, focusing on innovative and participatory learning methods. Activities were based on applied philosophies, spontaneous learning approaches, active listening within communities, and strengthening organizational awareness.
A key focus throughout the exchange was on empowering young people and mobilizing communities to actively participate in the development and implementation of local policies. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and shared experiences on how to foster inclusion and civic engagement at the local level.
The event also provided an opportunity for partners from IPED and LAG Lom to present practical approaches and European financial instruments that support civic participation and community development.
This successful exchange marks another important milestone in the ROMA RISE project, strengthening international partnerships and inspiring young people to take an active role in shaping their communities.
The journey continues, with upcoming trainings and exchange visits planned in Albania, Greece, and Romania.
